Autism and ABA
Receiving an autism diagnosis can be confusing and overwhelming. While Autism is not the only diagnosis that can be treated with ABA therapy, it is the most common. Other diagnoses include Down Syndrome, ADHD, and other developmental delays. ABA therapy is one of the many tools available to help clients and their families deal with any uncertainty while facing a new diagnosis.
What is Autism?
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is used to describe a group of complex neurological disorders that impact brain development. Individuals with ASD may struggle with social interactions, communication, and emotional regulation.
Autism is known as a "spectrum" disorder because it presents differently in each individual with a diagnosis. There is a wide variation in symptom severity in people with ASD.

Each individual who has a diagnosis of autism has a brain that developed a little differently which means each child has their own set of strengths and challenges, making each experience unique. This is why behavioral support through ABA therapy is most successful when it is tailored to each individual's needs. Although there has not been a proven cure for autism, research shows that early intervention and treatment have been very effective in improving a child's developmental trajectory.

Why ABA?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach to understanding behavior. ABA refers to a set of principles that focus on how behaviors change, or are affected by the environment, as well as how learning takes place.
Individualized Treatment
Treatment is based on a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) that has been individualized to the client. Setting goals for themselves or their loved ones ensures that clients and their families maintain an active role in treatment.
Fosters Independence & Quality of Life
ABA therapy empowers individuals with autism to lead more fulfilling and independent lives by improving social and communication skills, enhancing daily living skills, and decreasing challenging behaviors.
Strengthens Family Dynamic
ABA focuses on developing communication and social skills, which can allow a child to connect better with their family. It also enhances caregiver-child interactions by teaching effective behavior-management strategies, which may result in reduced stress amongst family members.
